Some Fun Ways To Celebrate Christmas

Instead of buying things, DO things! Go driving around and look at Christmas light displays. Plan a day to have a couple friends come over and do a Christmas cookie bake day. Go see the Christmas program put on by your local high school choir. Make a gingerbread house with your kids or grandkids - if you don’t have any, borrow a friend’s kid for the afternoon.

Do something with family or friends and plan to make it a yearly tradition. When my daughters were quite young, I started taking them to see the Nutcracker ballet every Christmas. They are now in their 30’s and 40’s and we still do it. Sometimes not all of us can make it, but we keep the tradition going. I know a family that has a movie night and the family gets together to watch the latest Christmas movie and serves goodies with a Christmas theme. They’ve done it every year since the Griswolds had their first Christmas! movie! :)

Spend as much time as you can doing things that only happen over the holidays.
